Before one changes the world, it would be more important maybe, not to ruin it.“

Paul Claudel (1868-1955), French diplomatic and poet

Dear business partners,

Dear collegues and friends of the LOTUS-family,

The quotation from Paul Claudel accompanies and inspires me again and again to new approaches.

Certainly it´s my aim to meet the ever changing demands of the market and we hope to inspire you with our products. Equally it is our collective responsibility to take care and protect the environment. From this motivation we aim to build on new creative ideas and proudly present some highly innovative products to you this year.

I´m convinced that with this change of thinking, we will achieve significant advancements in our customer’s applications. I would be pleased to welcome you personally at one of the several exhibitions during this year or meet at your location for a face to face discussion.

The entire LOTUS-team and I wish you all the best for a fulfilling, healthy and peaceful year 2011.

Kindest regards

08  Cooperation with University of Konstanz

R&D project crystalline solar cells

Uni

University of Konstanz and Lotus Systems recently agreed upon a joint R&D project in the field of surface treatment of crystalline solar cells. In the course of this project a test station has been installed in January on the premises of Konstanz University. Scientists and process engineers of the photovoltaic group of Lotus Systems will run a comprehensive series of experiments and tests over the next couple of months. Targets are a major reduction in process times and a substantial increase in process quality. Pre-tests have shown that a significant contribution to net parity can be expected.

The photovoltaic group of the University of Konstanz, headed by Prof. Dr. Giso Hahn, is one of the worldwide biggest academic groups for applied research in silicon photovoltaics, producing numerous patents that have been successfully transferred into the industry.  The institute has an excellent reputation in the world of photovoltaics.

Lotus Systems plans to extend the application of new wet process technologies to other fields of crystalline silicon processing. Namely the chemical treatment of multi crystalline bulk material and of wafers after sawing is in the focus.

Lotus Systems has previously delivered wet process equipment for laboratory applications to the University of Konstanz in 2010. The requirements were to provide a maximum of flexibility and quality, meeting the highest safety standards.  The custom manufactured solution has been in use for several months now.
